U is for the Union Square quilt block

There are not many quilt blocks with names beginning with U!  Here is the Union Square block.

I do not know how old this quilt block is - if it is from the Civil War era or later.

Some quilt blocks, like our last one, the tree block, are representational, and some like the one above, are geometrical.  Both are appealing to me.

This blog makes me want to quilt.

That's a very pretty quilt block. I think my very favorite is the old fashion 9 patch. There's something about simple squares....

SO pretty! I love my quilt that two very dear bloggy friends gave me! Hand stitched with love! It does not get any better than that! But recently I came across an old photo of a sweet pink and blue quilt my favorite Aunt stitched for our middle daughter. The quilt was worn and ragged and I am so sad. Oh how I wish I had the talent to recreate it! Sigh! I am going to share it on my blog hopefully today for Pink Saturday! I admire those of you with quilting talent. Have a great weekend and I love your pretty block. Reminds me of being cozy and comfortable! Thanks for sharing.
