Tuesday Oct. 31 quilt block

Good evening on Halloween and welcome to the Tuesday quilt block.
I am sharing one from the top row, about in the middle of the row, called Dad's Plaids:

It's always fun to use a plaid fabric or geometric fabric for this block.  I do my applique by ironing freezer paper on the wrong side of the fabric, ironing the seam allowance over, and basting the seam allowance down. (For melons: place the long dimension of the melon on the bias, not the straight of grain - this really helps.) I then place the melons in place and sew in place using silk thread and the most invisible stitch I can manage.  One does have to cut a slit in the back of the block to pull out the freezer paper, which I don't mind but some people could find a drawback.

Tuesday quilt block

It's Tuesday and time for an update on what I have been doing.
Wouldn't you know - more blocks in the style of Jane Stickle, in indigo and white.

(It's indigo, not black fabric.) This is A5 or Cathie's Campfire.  I've done so many of these blocks, more than once, that I even know their names without looking them up!

And so it begins (again)

Well I just can't help myself.
I have started a new project in the style of Jane Stickle, this time in indigo blue fabrics and white.
May I remind my readers that I have a Jane project with Civil War reproduction fabrics, still in progress.  And a Jane project for my daughter, in reproduction double pink fabrics and white, with about 100 blocks done.

But I was reading a book about classic antique indigo and white quilts and I was inspired.  So it begins:

With some simple blocks.  On Facebook, there is a Jane group starting a run through the blocks in order, one a week, starting with A1.  So I had to play some catch up.

A1 and A2.  The fabric appears black but is really a dark indigo.

I hope to find a place to link up - and share with the world my Jane obsession!
