Tuesday triangle Jan.30

Good day and welcome to a Tuesday post.
I am motivated to work on my Dear Jane quilt project in indigo blue and white, and I have been busy working on triangles.  Here is another one:

This is a triangle from the right side of the quilt, at the top, as the quilt is usually pictured. (TR 1)  Paper piecing all the way!

Friday Finish Jan. 26

Good day!

time to share some more quilting work that I have done this week.  I am still working on my Jane Stickle quilt project, and dipping into row K of the quilt.  Here is K-13:

A simple enough star with a nine patch in the middle.  Easy enough, compared to some of the blocks in this amazing quilt.

Tuesday triangle Jan. 23

Hello and welcome!
I am working my way through Jane Stickle blocks and Jane Stickle triangles.  The triangles are 5 inches wide at the base and 8 inches tall, so not your usual square blocks!  Paper piecing is often handy.  A recent finish:

This is a triangle from the top row, as the quilt is usually pictured, and is 2nd from the left.  5 triangles down, many more to go....

Friday (almost) finished

Hello and welcome to a semi-regular feature, my current work or a current finish.
Today, not quite done:  a lap quilt is the double Irish chain pattern, quilted, but not bound.  This photo (not the greatest) is of the top before quilting.

Quilting is done in simple straight lines. About what I can manage on my old Kenmore machine!

On the Stashbusters quilt list on Yahoo we are discussing Irish chain quilts, and set a challenge.  This will eventually be my first finish of the year.  Muslin background is from all the strips left from backing previous quilts, and the colorful fabrics are from circa 1990's Jinny Beyer fabrics, and scraps from deep stash, of the same vintage.  Borders (yellow then green) are new fabric.  Binding will be the same green as the outer border.

Tuesday Quilt block Jan. 16

Good day everyone visiting my little blog!
It's a cold cold day in the American Midwest.  But it's Tuesday and time to share a quilt block.  This week, the Jane Stickle Facebook group I belong to is sharing B3.  I have indeed done this in indigo and white:

This is before being trimmed to the correct size.

Friday Finish Jan. 12 '18

Hello and welcome to what is becoming a regular Friday feature, as long as I am active in my sewing/quilting space. That is, a quilt block, Jane triangle, or even a quilt top to share.
Today, a triangle in indigo fabric:

A bit of a struggle with paper piecing of those long pieces, but doable.  Made of new (to me) indigo reproduction fabric.  Must keep going with the triangles!  At 5 inches by 8 inches, challenging to those of us who normally work in the block format.

Tuesday Quilt block: Jan. 9

Good day! Time for another Jane Stickle quilt block.
This week's block is B 2.  I followed the instructions by Anina on That Quilt.  See her blog for step by step instructions.
Make two pinwheel blocks.  For the best one, cut into a circle of the correct size (and seam allowances) to prep for applique onto the other one:

I used the "freezer paper on bottom" technique.  Arrange with the colors alternating and applique on top of the bigger block.

It looks harder than it really is.

Friday Finish Jan. 5

Happy New Year!  Wishing you the best for 2018.  Time to get back to work on quilt blocks.

I have been working on a scrappy Irish Chain project that is not quite ready for its debut.  In the meantime, I will share the block of the week for the Jane Stickle quilt group on Facebook:

This is B 1 or Batchelor Buttons.  Simple enough, but watch the applique of those curves!
