Once again I have a new start - I can't seem to help it! A number of new starts I have shown previously will go to a local long arm quilter in a few weeks, and will eventually get done.
In the meantime...
Perusing the book Scrap Basket Beauties by Kim Brackett (from the library) I came across her triple star pattern. How delightful to do this in 30's reproduction fabrics, with an off-white background:
I have 8 blocks done and I will sash them with the same off white fabric.
A close up:
Fabric pieces are cut 2.5 inches wide, to finish at 2 inches wide. More sewing this week on these blocks. I may stop at 12 blocks, rather than the 16 in the book pattern.

A quilt is bound and done!
I have a UFO (Un-Finished Object) finish. A quilt first described in this post. A new start - always so inviting - in May and June of last year. Well I finished the top and sent it out to a local long-armer, and had a tight stipple quilted edge to edge. It is the Oh My Gosh pattern, though using squares of a larger sized than the designer intended.
Each small square finishes at 1 inch. Below, a close up of a corner:
I used a lot of reproduction fabric, including neutrals and shirtings for this quilt. It finishes at 71 by 80 inches. Intense piecing, but a lot of fun to see the pattern come together. I am so glad to see this finished. No recipient as of yet, just storage on the pile of finished quilts.

New top, way different fabrics
So I was visiting a quilt shop over Christmas vacation and they had a lovely, attractive display of an vaguely Egyptian - themed fabric line, Treasures of Alexandria. It's heavily embellished with gold, and quite different from my usual reproduction fabric style. But three charm square packages and a length of yardage hopped into my arms.
I bought two yards for borders and binding.
As described in my last post, I couldn't wait to start this. I picked a simple pattern and black fabric, to set off the charm squares. The same black for an inner border and the fabric above for an outer border.
Laid out on the floor - no one available to hold the top up for me. Below, a closeup of the border and corner:
Lovely! And went together quickly. I have purchased a wide fabric of blue with swirls for the backing. I will have this quilted by a local long arm quilter I have used before.
