Rednesday April 11

Happy Rednesday!  It's Spring, and old projects get reinvigorated.  I have another Jane Stickle block to share with you.

This block is called Gloriae (I am pretty sure) and those tight points gave me some trouble!  I followed the advice and instructions from Anina to help with this one.  Thanks Anina!   as I said in my previous post, I am down to the difficult blocks now - and for me that means applique, or set in seams, or both.

The red fabric here is brand new.  It is part of the Friendship Collections for a Cause line from Moda.  The color is similar to a slightly faded turkey red - love it.

I am joining Sue loves cherries for the Rednesday blog hop.

March 7 Rednesday

I am sharing a recent quilt block with you today.  It's quite red and you could call it a Cherry Basket.

It looks like orange but the color here is actually a tomato red.  The background is unbleached muslin - not as dingy as photographed!  This is one of the Just Takes Two quilt blocks,  from the Just Takes Two project.

It's Rednesday again!

And time to link up with Sue at It's a Very Cherry World.  She has some cute items to share today.

This is a block finishing at 4.5 inches that is part of the Jane Stickle quilt.  Many women (and men) have worked along with the Dear Jane book to recreate this quilt.  I am slowly getting close myself.  I now have 156 blocks done out of 169.  This is H-11, Piercing rays, and I have made some changes to avoid set-in seams.

Rednesday quilt block

I was able to get into my quilting room this weekend, and ignore the children.  And here is the red quilt block of the week.
(A bit over-exposed)  This block from the Jane Stickle quilt is called Harvest Moon.  This is block 155 out of 169 so I am making progress.  And a few more triangles too.... and 3 of the 4 corner blocks....

Block I-10

Jane quilt progress:  This block is known as Iris' Medallion. I've avoided it for so long because of the inset seams.

It doesn't lie exactly flat but I think with some aggressive ironing, and then during quilting (in the far distant future) it will flatten out.

Goodness, post #300!  I'll have to think about a giveaway.  And, I am approaching my 4-year anniversary of blogging!  So stay tuned.

Today:  a scan of most of a 9 inch block that I am doing for the Just Takes 2 project. This red is more of a tomato color.   I think you can see that this is the Jacob's Ladder block (it goes by other names too).  Red and white blocks look so wonderful don't they?  I see why this project is so popular, and why red and white quilts were popular in the past.

Quick note:  Instead of throwing this red fabric in the washer with other dark fabrics, I soaked it in the sink in hot water and soap - and the dye ran!  I soaked and rinsed until the water was clear.  But, it makes me wonder about other red fabrics I have purchased...

Vintage red....something!

This is a delightful crocheted ... something.  I found it at a thrift store for 90 cents!  It might be a hotpad or pot holder.  When I saw it I thought of Rednesday right away.  It's been a long time since I've joined Rednesday so I had to search for Sue's blog!

Hooking up with Vintage Thingy Thursday and Rednesday at It's a very Cherry World.  It's Sue's 3rd anniversary and she is having a give-away.
