Zig zag quilts are ready for gifting

Good day and welcome to my blog.
Quilts I started this summer are done done and ready for gifting!  And in time too.

I worked with a pattern from this book:

And made two zig zag quilts one in blue, and one in red.
The blue quilt:

With thin blue binding.  And a peek of the back:

And now the red quilt:

And a peek of the back:

Both are quilted by a local longarmer in the pattern "Baptist Clams".  Both are being gifted this weekend to family members, who I hope will love them.

Zigzag redux

Hello and welcome!
I enjoyed making my blue and white zig zag quilt so much I have decided to make it again, in a new color.
Source of my pattern: Red and white quilts.  And it's complex enough that I am staring at the instructions constantly.  I did my first one in indigo and cream - shown in this blog post.

Well the results were dynamic and graphic.  Why not make it again in red and cream?  Or using an antiqued fabric that I had ordered by accident? (Wrong color picked on line, and can't return cut yardage.)
So off to the quilt area ("studio") to cut strips of red and antique fabrics.  This is my progress so far:

And a close up of the red fabrics:

I have used reproduction red fabrics, mostly from 1860 - 1900 styles.  I want that old look.  This photo also shows the look of the antiqued background fabric.  I thought it a little dark but it works well against the red.

Zig zag top complete

Good Day and welcome to my blog!
This week's post is just a continuation of last week's post on the new start: a zigzag pattern.
I had to find new fabric as I was running out of my cream colored background fabric.  I did find a replacement: Kona Cream.  It matches in color but has a different "hand" and thread count.  So when you are really staring at the top, up close, you can see a difference, but not from a distance.  Good enough for me!

The top is approximately 75 inches square.

And a close up of the blue and white:

Next question:  Quilt it myself or send it to a long armer?

Another new start: Zigzag quilt

Hello and welcome to my blog!

I have a heap of navy and indigo blue fabrics left over from a long term Dear Jane project.  And I borrowed a new book from our local library.  Of course this led to a new project.
The book is Red and white quilts:

No affiliation, just a reader.

I was attracted to one of the patterns, called Walk this Way.  I am calling mine Zigzag.  You sew the blocks of white and colored strips a certain way, then lay them out on the diagonal:

On the "design floor."  The last row is in place but not sewed on yet.  Yes that is blue fabric not black.  I think it will be very graphic when done.  I am halfway there.  However I am running out of the white fabric, which is not unbleached muslin but has a pale yellowish cast.  Must go out tomorrow and buy more.
Edited to add: a closeup of the blue and white fabrics:
