Crayon Box quilt done

Hello and welcome.  Life is speeding up as the fall semester of my University get closer - I start on Monday!  But for the end of summer I finished up an older UFO.  I think I pieced it in 2018, and had a local long arm quilter quilt it in 2019.  It is Crayon Box, a pattern by Bonnie Hunter, resized for using 2 inch strips.  I used a variety of 30's and 40's reproduction fabrics.

Unbleached muslin is used for the center squares.  The 30's fabrics are the same style, so they play well together, even with widely different colors.

I ran out of the yellow I used for the border, so used another fabric to prepare binding.  This three yard length of fabric has been used for binding for two quilts now.  Size is about 72 by 90 inches, a little larger than I usually do.

Double 4 patch in progress

Hello and welcome to my blog!

In my last post I listed three projects that were next in line, and how I was cutting up scraps and pieces of Civil war reproduction fabric for them.  Well today I can report on progress on one of these, the double 4 patch.  Blocks are laid out, but not sewn together yet.

I thought the browns and blues would lead to a dull quilt so I cut lots of yellows and red fabrics.  So it is now a bit more lively than I thought.  A close-up:

This quilt will be a record of my fabric collection.  Actually only a portion - there are boxes of fabric I didn't pull down form the shelves!

Final size?  I'll determine this when I run out of cut fabric pieces.  Probably about 60 by 80 inches, which is the size of the floor I use for laying out projects. (Grin).
