Double 4 patch is a top now

Hello and welcome to my blog!

I have been very busy at my day job so I haven't gotten into my quilting space until this past weekend.  I concentrated my time on getting my double 4 patch project to a finished top.  I blogged about the beginnings of this project in August of this year.

Having purchased new fabric for the borders, we have a top:

I used this border fabric in a previous quilt and liked it so much I bought more.  It's from the Hickory Road line if I remember correctly.  Size: about 70 by 90 inches.

A view of one corner:

This is a good block to used up scraps or stash.  Each white square finishes at 1.5 inches.  The finished block is 6 inches square.  Now it is off to the long arm quilter that I patronize - she does wonderful work.  No home for this one, yet.

A finish: Red and white log cabin

 Hello and welcome.

I have been working on this off and on.  Started in December 2019, and blogged about in this post.  I finally took it to be long armed quilted this year.  It recently came back, looking lovely with quilted swirling feathers on a wool batting that puffs up so nicely.

No borders; I bound with a red fabric I had saved for just this purpose.  About 70 by 90 inches.

And a close up view:

The logs finish at 1 inch wide.  I bind by sewing the binding to the back, flipping it over to the front and pressing then pinning, then top stitching down with a closely matching thread.

I like this one so much I have put it on my bed, and slept under it last night and the night before.  Heavenly!

Just an update

Hello and welcome to my blog.  I have just a quick update today.  My Crayon box project now has a border and is a completed top.  I had a navy blue fabric (2.5 yards) that toned down all the brown in the quilt blocks.

Yes that's navy blue fabric not black.  The Crayon Box blocks are set next to each other, not with sashing as the original pattern suggested.
