Tuesday Quilt block June 30

...And today I got up late and missed a Doctor's appointment. Sigh. well, there is always the Tuesday Quilt block.

In the Stars in a Time Warp Series last week, Barbara Brackman discussed Fancy machine grounds, including picotage.  Since I have already made blocks using this kind of fabric, I dug deeper in my upstairs stash (yes I have two!) and found just regular chintz fabrics with light grounds.

A star made with Mary Koval's Family tree fabric, and

A more vintage fabric, showing the registration 'haloes'.

I am linking up with Connie at Freemotion by the River and Quilt Story as I do most weeks I have blocks to share. Both blog hops have pictures of pretty quilt blocks and other projects. I am also joining Work in Progress Wednesday - some colorful and interesting projects there!

Tuesday Quilt Block June 23

It's mid summer and the weather is beautiful!
I am running a little late today because I needed to make some stars in a time warp blocks. The fabric Barbara Brackman described last week was chintz with blotch grounds - chintz with dark grounds.
Deep in my stash lurked this first fabric - dark and with registration 'haloes'.

Small scale too, so that you can see some of the pattern in a 6 inch block.
I am less happy with the next block.

I am not happy with the background fabric - not happy at all.  But it's too late to change it now.

Tuesday Quilt Block June 16

Back from a family vacation, and I am not missing my Tuesday postings!
I am continuing with my Stars in a Time Warp Series.  Last week, Barbara Brackman discussed white or light ground chintz fabrics.  I have used the fabrics in my stash closest to what she described.

I see I like fabrics with a picotage background!  I especially like the second fabric - that must be why I have two yards of it.  The selvage says it is from a Sturbridge Village line.

Tuesday Quilt block June 9

Stars in a Time Warp series:  The block covered last week was neat stripes: nice lines, not wavy or serpentine.  Here are my two blocks.  Note I also picked a neat stripe for the background fabric too!

I am off on a whirlwind trip to NYC on Tuesday and so I won't be able to hook up with the usual linky parties.  Maybe for Works in Progress Wednesday!

Tuesday Quilt block June 2

Last week, on Barbara Brackman's blog she described Excentric or eccentric prints.  I knew I would have to dig a bit to find these!  First up:

An older print from Jinny Beyer. This is a faithful copy of Lane's net (see BB's blog entry). This fabric I'll bet is from the 1980's.  I'll pretend it's California gold in color.  The next one could be an eccentric print also.  It's all I had in my stash.
