2nd set of Duckworth blocks now in a top

Good day and thanks for stopping by my blog.

I am sharing today an assembled top, minus a border, of Duckworth blocks.  These are wonky or improvisational log cabin blocks, usually in one color or color family.  They are named after Joanne Merrill-Duckworth who sadly passed away in May of this year.  It's a good way to use up scraps and leftovers, if your scraps are in short or long strips, as mine are.

I did one set of blocks in pinks and browns.  Then I sewed a 2nd set of 64 blocks with a 4 patch center and all colors.  They ended up at 6 inches square.  As in the first set, I did not want to set them together in a quilt top.  Too much of a "fabric vomit" look or a dog's breakfast.  So I bordered the small blocks in beige and dark gray fabrics (as in my first set of Duckworth blocks).  Here are some blocks, laid out on my worktable.

And a finished top, but no borders.  The blocks are set 7 by 9 for 63 blocks total.

I have recently purchased border fabric, but it's for another project.  Maybe there will be enough left over for this project, maybe not.  Must assemble the other project first!

A close up:

The fabrics are all 1800's reproduction fabrics.  I have set this project aside for the moment.
