What to do with all these scraps?

Hello, and welcome to my blog.

It's time to do some clean-up of scraps, which in my case means using strips that I have overcut.

I have: one inch strips left over from a mini log cabin:

1.5 inch strips from two log cabin projects:  brown strips and lots of pink strips.

1.5 inch strips leftover from my Pie Birds project.

And cut offs from my prep for the flying geese project.

Since I had strips, I used the light fabrics in this last picture as a center, and added strips around it, log cabin style.  Here is a set of about 60 mini-blocks.

Here are the leftover 1 inch strips.  I have no qualms about tossing these out.

Next:  Add the 1.5 inch strips, log cabin style and build these "crumb" blocks up to at least 6 inches square, or larger.  Lots of pink and brown strips will continue the color story.

Stay tuned!

That's a great idea for your strips and squares! Pretty colors, too!

I'm more of a paper piecer, so the little snippets are all over my studio. I have - in the past - kept even the smallest to fill floor pillows, but not anymore.... I think. I'm planning to throw those. Otherwise, if it's 1" or larger I keep them. I haven't used yardage in a long time.

Such pretty pinks and browns! Too pretty to waste. So glad you are sewing them up into mini blocks. Can't wait to see the result. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

You've made an excellent start to using up those cute little scraps. I'm good at sorting my scraps, but fall short in actually using them up. LOL

Super cute little blocks!!! I made fabric twine out of my leftover 1" strips and then tie up quilts or any gift with the fabric twine. Just a thought...

That is a great way to use those scraps. I don't think I would have thrown any of the rest out though.

What a great way to use up, or at least diminish all those strips you have cut. No doubt you have fabulous plans for the resulting blocks.

Those 60 mini blocks sure reduced that pile of leftover strings! Well done! Isn't it amazing the amount of room strings can occupy?
