It finishes at 4.5 inches. It is called Tinker Toy and involved matching stripes, applique, and reverse applique. I had been saving this striped fabric just for a block like this. The corner blocks are supposed to be set in via Y-seams, but I balked and just appliqued them on.

I just started Dear Jane this year. And when it comes to y seams, I think I'll do the same thing! Your block looks great!

You did a lovely job on this block. I too started my Dear Jane project in Sept 2007.. but I've only got as far as 100 blocks. If only I could stick at it.
I hand pieced this block a couple of weeks ago. I'm in the process of doing another hand pieced one. I have mixed the methods throughout. Which ever method seemed the easiest and sometimes using several methods in one tiny block. I love your strip that you've used.
