Take this Tune: Love of Place

Or, if you want to see Paul (The cute Beatle) singing:

Fairweather at Take this Tune has the theme this week of Love of Place.
The Mull of Kintyre is a peninsula on the southern west coast of Scotland. It is where Paul McCartney has had a farm for many years. To me, this song truly embodies the love of a certain place.
Here are some of the lyrics.

Mull of Kintyre, oh mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire, is always to be here, Oh Mull of Kintyre.

Sweep through the heather, like deer in the glen,
Carry me back to the days I knew then
Nights when we sang like a heavenly choir
Of the life and the time of the Mull of Kintyre.
(Refrain)
Smiles in the sunshine and tears in the rain
Still take be back where my memories remain
Flickering embers grow higher and higher
As they carry me back to the Mull of Kintyre.
(Refrain)

Take this tune... Heartbreak

Fairweather at Take this Tune is "Riffin' on Heartbreak". Indeed a constant theme in all genres of music. Surprisingly, I couldn't think of a good heart break song that came right to mind. But, I did think of a movie that, for me, is number one in the Heartbreak Department. And that is "Somewhere in Time" starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour.

From the Internet Movie Database:

Tagline: "Some day in the past, he will find her."
Plot:" A Chicago playwright uses self-hypnosis to find the actress whose vintage portrait hangs in a grand hotel." But this doesn't begin to catch the feeling of this movie.

Even shown on late-night TV, broken up by thousands of commercials, it still made me weepy.
Embedding is disabled, so I will send you to You Tube, where the whole movie is there, in 7 14 to 15 minute pieces. This is a link to the last part, with the serious heartbreak.

Monday: Take this tune

Well, at some point I should get back to my regularly scheduled quilt content. At least some of my 37 followers might be looking for it!

In the meantime, I am having fun with Jamie's meme, Take this tune. It's silliness this week, so I naturally thought of Monty Python. Some of their songs are not G-rated, and some of course will offend. But here is the Philosopher's Drinking Song, as visualized by dachshund2k3. Love the paintings and statues.

And I learned how to embed video! Thank you for your help.
