30's reproduction scraps & pieces - ack!

Good day, and welcome to my blog, and my overwhelmed sewing area.

I have been sewing through my 1800's reproduction scraps and strips, making Duckworth blocks.  There is a dent in my storage boxes.

Next:  my 1930's and 1940's reproductions scraps and pieces.  I have three larger-than-shoebox sized containers and a plastic bag of pieces, squares, and strips.

Even a partial jelly roll:

I also unearthed a quilt top that I do not recall making!  Or when I did.  It's pre-Covid, for sure.

Edited to add: I found this information on this top.  It's a Chinese Coins pattern I made in August of 2018.

What to do?  I recently finished a 2021 quilt top using a pattern called Three at a Time.  It's a jelly roll patten using 2.5 inch strips.  I had a number of these strips already cut in the boxes.  I could cut more and set with unbleached muslin.

Here I am in progress.

But oh no!  Even with 30 - 40 different fabrics in this quilt, the same green fabric ended up next to another piece. (upper right)

I left it in.  Setting fabrics together randomly, it's bound to happen.  True:  If you have a group of 30 people or so, two people will have the same birthday (day, not the year).  Statistically it's bound to happen.  So a fabric piece will touch the same fabric.

Top in progress:

And, I made a doll quilt with some leftovers, about 16 by 20 inches:

Still, I have a lot of fabric left.  I have another pattern picked out.  I must find yet more patterns and sew faster.

Great scrap usage! I was wondering if you made a decent dent in the pile! LOL. They just never go away.

Scraps, scraps, and more scraps, we all seem to have gobs of them and it is so fun seeing what is in someone else's scrap bins/boxes!

Lovely scrappy pieces you've made and have in progress Viridian;)))
Even though I have whittled my big pieces stash back a lot, my SCRAPS are still all over the place--hiding everywhere I turn it seems. It is what it is...I love using scraps and I guess that is the price you pay for keeping them...Hugs, Julierose

What a great scrap buster choice and perfect for those 30s repro fabrics. Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell!

LOL, the mantra of every quilter. I must sew more!!! Only, every time to try to sew more I end up starting new things and forgetting the old. Now how does that happen?

Great patterns for use of the scraps you identified were " ready" to be made into a quilt! It is crazy how those little pieces seem to multiply overnight!

Wonderful stitching with those 30's repros. Makes me want to dig out my box of same.

I agree about leaving the pieces as they fall in scrap quilts. It’s statistically going to happen and adds to the charm, imho.
